Catch odds calculator
Every bait has its own weighted table, and each bite picks from it. Pick a bait to see exactly what it brings up, or a fish to find the bait that catches it most often.
Which bait pays best
Average sell value of one bite's catch, minus what you lose in bait on average (its price times the chance it's lost on a catch). Average-size fish; boss baits are left out.

Dynamite under water
One blast brings up exactly 5 catches, each picked from the same shared table.
How a bite is picked
Each bait carries a list of catches with weights. When a fish bites, the game picks one entry in proportion to its weight, so a catch's chance is its weight divided by the total. Your rod, the island, the depth, the time of day and the weather don't change the list. A caught creature is "drip" (the shiny look) 10% of the time, plus 3 points per wishbone level; drip changes the look, not the price. Full rules are on the methodology page.
